Mr. DeVries grew up in Randolph, WI and attended Central Wisconsin Christian High School in Waupun.

He graduated from Dordt College in 1989 with a B.A. in Education and began teaching the 1989/1990 school year at Mount Vernon Christian High School, in the state of Washington.

He then moved to Michigan in 1995 where he took up teaching at Adams Christian School in Wyoming, (formerly Grand Rapids). He taught there for two years at both the third grade and fifth grade levels.

Mr. DeVries started teaching at Covenant Christian in the 1997/1998 school year and teaches Modern World History & Government.

Mr. DeVries received his Master's in Educational Technology from Western Michigan University in 2008 and his Master’s Certificate in Christian Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2025.

In addition to teaching, Mr. DeVries also serves as  Technology Coordinator and the Director of Student Life.

Mr. DeVries is married, to Mari (Meulenberg) and attends Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Walker, Michigan.
