MODERN WORLD HISTORY

Instructor: Mr. Rick DeVries

Course Description:

This two-semester course covers the time from the French Revolution to the 1970's showing the changes from the traditional governments and societies in medieval Europe to the more liberal and nationalistic countries of the modern era. Emphasis is on how industrialism, nationalism, and modern imperialism were used in the development of the nations of today.

This course will also take into account the increasing importance of science and technology, political revolutions, nationalism, and the interdependence of nations, as they developed in order to give the student insight into the present world as it is moving to the end time.

This course is especially valuable because it places the history of America in the proper perspective of world history, thus giving a better understanding of the place of our country in world affairs.

Another value of this course is that the events, themes, ideas, and men of history are evaluated on the basis of Scripture so that the student will see that history is developing and moving toward the coming of our Lord in judgment.
